Wine exporters allowed access to China market
Date: 2009-09-05 14:06:19
Australia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hong Kong to allow easier access to the Chinese mainland market for wine and wine-related products.
The agreement gives wine exporters improved access to the Hong Kong and mainland markets by simplifying processes such as certification and labelling.
“In a country the size of China, a single window to government will make it easier for the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation to help exporters ship wine to this important market,” said Minister for Agriculture Tony Burke.
As part of bilateral cooperation on wine and food, and following the elimination of wine import duties last year, the MOU will position Hong Kong as Asia’s wine centre.
“We have the infrastructure, the expertise and the desire and determination to be Asia’s wine trading and distribution hub,” said Hong Kong Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Rita Lau.
